The Deep TRUTH About MARRIAGE
Beloved, the topic we shall be exploring here is what I would like to dub “the dark hour message.” We need to understand it very well. The devil has erected a lot of mountains for man. However, every man’s mountain is the mountain of his ignorance. There are so many things that happen to us and when we try to find out the origin, we are thrown into puzzlement. But the Bible says, God reveals deep and secret things. He knoweth what is in darkness and also the light dwelleth in him. The issue we are looking at in this chapter has caused the human race a lot of sorrow. Unfortunately, not many ministries, ministers or pastors understand or can adequately address it. But it is the reason a lot of people are passing through terrible problems today.
Genesis 12:10-20:
And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land. And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai, his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This ,is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee. And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house. And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels. And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai
Abram’s wife. And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? Why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way. And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.
AN ANCIENT PROBLEM
Abraham went to Egypt to sojourn there. He agreed with Sarai to tell the Egyptians a lie that Sarai was not his wife but his sister. Truly, she was his half-sister but she had become more than that, she was now a wife. Abraham was afraid that the ungodly Egyptians would kill him and snatch his pretty wife. Based on this half-truth by Abraham, the King of Egypt captured the wife. The King gave Abraham unwanted gifts which he collected by force.
A SPIRITUAL LAW
The king had broken a spiritual law innocently but he still had to face the consequences. The king stole a wife and because of that, great plagues came upon his entire household. A stolen wife in a family can be the source of trouble for the whole family and down the generational line. You need to pray seriously today, if your father had wives that are of your age. There are troubles that we put ourselves into without knowing it. The Bible says ‘Great plagues fell upon Pharaoh and the whole of his household.” The plagues only ceased when the object of contention was removed. As far as Sarai remained in his palace; Pharaoh was in trouble.
Genesis 20:1-18:
And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife. But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said,
Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called. all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake. And yet indeed she is my sister, she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife. And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and women servants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved. So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.
IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE
Ignorance of spiritual law may not absolve the offender from chastisement. It is not an excuse. All kinds of gynecological problems could crop up when a woman is stolen into a household Abimelech was still alive but as far as God was concerned, he was already a dead man, merdy waiting for his last breath. From the moment he stole Abraham’s wife, he was a dead man. God Himself bore the King witness that he was misled but it was not an excuse. The fact that he was a king didn’t mitigate the offence because God said ”Your status not withstanding, you are in trouble”. It is clear that when this man committed the offence, great problems came upon him. Abraham now had to pray for him so that the good health and prosperity which he had enjoyed prior to this episode could be restored Apart from the death sentence that came on Abimelech, all other things were wrong with the family.
The men procured a death sentence, the women procured serious problems. Nobody was getting pregnant there again irrespective of what they did. What the doctors were saying did not matter because everybody was in trouble there. All these happened because a man usurped another man’s wife.
All the men in the house were dead men, although they still drew breath. They were no longer going to live beyond a particular date and age. They were no longer going to live their lives to the fullest because their father stole a wife. Their aspirations and destinies had been cut short because somebody coveted another person’s wife.
People were going to be mourning their deaths at some point in time when they should be celebrating their promotion, all because a wife was stolen. This is an area many of us avoid. It is an area that deliverance ministries don’t even touch, but it is a very serious and important area. A stolen wife can give you serious trouble that will affect the whole household. Gehazi’s covetousness brought a loathsome affliction not only upon himself but also on his seed.
GRAVE CONSEQUENCES
Many of us need to pray today until our voices hoarsen because this is a serious trouble. In some families, the men who stole wives are dead, but the problems created by sexual insatiety are still ravaging their seed.
And the messenger said unto David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entering of the gate. And the shooters shot from off the wall upon thy servants; and some of the king’s servants be dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also. Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him. And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for, her husband. And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.
David had stolen Uriah’s wife. Serious trouble began for him.
2 Samuel 12:9-15:
Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun. And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
David succumbed to lust and seduced Uriah’s wife and incurred frightful nemesis just as Pharaoh and Abimelech reaped their own comeuppance.
Have you noticed that a particular problem runs in your family – like late marriage or marital instability? Perhaps there was or there is an Abimelech of a Patriarch who innocently or deliberately deprived a lesser man of his wife for which indiscretion his children are now passing through some difficulties? There are many aspects of this stolen husband or wife business that concern us these days:
- Where there is no bride price nor engagement or formal marriage and you are living with a woman, you are a thief. You have stolen a whole human being. By definition, the seed of such a relationship are bastards. You are writing letters of invitation to the usual problems that bedevil those who steal wives. If maybe you yourself did not do anything like this but in your family line somebody has done it, it maybe the reason why you are suffering now.
- Where you sleep with or live with a man or a woman who is not your legitimate spouse, you are a thief.
- When somebody is using prophetic manipulation, money, opposition to win a man or a woman, such a person is a thief.
- All those who keep boyfriends and girlfriends, fall under this category of thieves. Marriage is for men and women not boys and girls.
- When you claim to be a born-again and Spirit-filled, your marriage never received pastoral blessing, then you are a thief. As a child of God no marriage is complete without somebody standing as God’s representative to bless the marriage.
- When you commit fornication or adultery of the heart with a member of the opposite sex, you are a thief.
- When there is someone in your ancestry who stole a wife or husband, the punishment flows down to you.
- Whenever there is marital unfaithfulness, that is, any form of adultery-there is stealing taking place.
- Where you write love letters or send text messages to a person who is not your spouse, you are a thief
- All forms of polygamy is what you can call massive stealing. This is why people find it difficult to have peace. Many have married wives or husbands that do not belong to them.
- When you are the first man to sleep with a lady, you have entered into a serious spiritual transaction and covenant. It is a blood covenant you have formed with the lady. If eventually you dump her, you are a thief. A lot of young men are guilty of this offence.
- When you send presents to seduce a man or a woman, you are a thief.
- If you are depriving a man or a woman of the full love of their spouse by your unholy interference, you are a thief. This means that all strange women are unconscionable thieves.
- If you have ever indulged in rape, the biblical stance is that you must marry the lady, otherwise you will be considered a thief.
Deuteronomy 22:1-end:
Thou shalt not see thy brothers ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again unto thy brother. And if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again. In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother’s, which he hath lost; and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself. Thou shalt not see thy brother’s ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thy self from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again. The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination
unto the LORD thy God. If a bird’s nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young: But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days. When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence. Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled. Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together. Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together. Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself. If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her, And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid: Then shall the father of the damsel and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel’s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate: And the damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her; And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city. And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him; And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days. But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her fathers house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her fathers house so shalt thou put evil a way from among you. If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay
with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel. If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife so thou shalt put away evil from among you But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die: But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter. For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days. A man shall not take his father’s wife, nor discover his father’s skirt.
- Accidental pregnancy: The biblical view is that you must marry the woman. If you don’t marry her, you are a thief.
- If you marry an unbeliever as a Christian according to Malachi 2:11-12, all you have done is that you have stolen a wife from the devil.
Malachi 2:11-12says:
Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god. The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
- When a man marries a widow within a year of her husband’s death, such man is a thief There was this case of a sister whose husband passed on
in January. Two months later in March, she was already re-married to the husband’s best friend. This is an egregious theft.
- When a person contrives a ‘marriage’ to a lady in an overseas country with the aim of obtaining requisite documents, that fellow is a thief.
- When somebody uses a charm or a fetish power to attract a man or a woman, that person is a thief.
- When a stolen wife or stolen husband is one of your parents, your life will definitely be affected.
- When as a young lady, you collected money from a rich man because you wanted him to finance your education and after graduating you refused to marry the rich old man but would rather fall for a dashing, young man – both you and your dazzling new flame are thieves.
- There have been instances when herbalists asked desperate women to pledge their love for them once their problems have been cured. All those prophets and herbalists are thieves. If you have them in your family line, you need to pray hard.
- Where a woman abandons her poor husband for the embrace of a rich man. The rich man is in trouble because God will fight for the legitimate spouse. There is a curse called the ‘curse of the innocent’
What then is the solution?
- Restitution where it is possible. In most cases it’s not possible because those who caused the trouble are dead. What we need do in such cases is to remove the umbrella from our head so that these curses can be taken away.
- Wage war against the powers behind these stolen wives and stolen husbands.
- We then need to repossess everything this activity has stolen from our lives.
YOU MUST PRAY
There are prayers we need to pray. All of us need to think about this issue very well. We need to cry out to God today so that we can be delivered from this issue that has brought sorrow and sadness to many lives and marriages. The only people who do not need to pray are those who have sat down to think and they have found out that their great, great, grandfather had a very proper marriage; you are sure that he didn’t marry a slave or force somebody to marry him. If you think such a thing like a stolen wife or stolen husband has never occurred in your family lineage before, then you don’t need to bother to pray. But if you cannot even remember what they did to themselves and you discover that even your own mother does not have a marriage certificate, then you need to pray today. There are serious problems that come with the issue of stolen wives and stolen husbands. Some of those problems are unexplainable hatred, marital distress, gynecological problem, plagues, men walking about like corpses, academic stagnancy, unfulfilled expectations. All these accompany the question of stolen wives and stolen husbands.
How did you marry your husband? How did you marry that woman you call your wife? Was it that the man was coming to pick somebody else and you were making faces at him? Was it that you lured her into your life with money and material gifts? You need to pray seriously today. If when you start praying, you begin to feel dizzy, you better continue the prayer. It means that you are concerned and the issue has been stealing from you. If you are married but before your wedding, you had had sex with your lover or bethrothed, both of you are thieves. This may be why the devil has stolen so many things from you.

- Every problem from my father’s house, emanating from stolen wives and stolen husbands, die, in the name of Jesus.
- Anointing of the bastard of my father’s house, die in the name of Jesus.
- My Father, if my putative father is not my real biological father, deliver me by fire in Jesus name.
- Every secret curse working against my progress, die, in the name of Jesus.
- Every secret curse working against my destiny die, in the name of Jesus.
