PARALYZING MODERN WITCHCRAFT
1 Samuel 15:22-24:
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
We are looking at a study of great concern. If you are a compassionate minister of God, you would have noticed that a lot of Christians who claim to be born again, sanctified, filled with the Holy Spirit and are still being oppressed by dark powers. In many situations the dream life is a war front.

This chapter addresses some major reasons why the attack of the enemy is often successful on Christians.
The word ‘witch’ is from an old English word called ‘wicca’. It is from this word that the word ‘wicked’ was derived, therefore, one can be right in saying that to be wicked is to be ‘witch like’.
Beloved, satan has repackaged witchcraft to fit into our modern Christian taste. Witchcraft has been given a facelift but the essence of it is still intact. When last did you hear or see an old person being
stoned to death for confessing to the evils he had done through witchcraft?
There was a time when these scenes were many and common, but today, it is not longer so because it has been repackaged. The horrible witches and wizards nowadays are the young women and men, they no longer wear rags, they put on three piece suits, they dress nicely and ride in good cars. They are ubiquitous in all levels of education – primary, secondary and university.
If your idea of witchcraft is someone confessing in a market place, you are wrong because the devil has repackaged it into something else. Where are those olden days witch catchers? They used to be many in those days, but they are nowhere to be found because witchcraft has been repackaged.
Many years ago, there used to be a plant in our forest which if a witch was given to eat, he would begin to confess instantly. But nowadays, it is the witch that uses it to cook palatable meal to eat and nothing happens anymore. Those of us from Yoruba speaking area will be familiar with the name of a plant they called ‘obo’ which is noted for being an antiwitchcraft plant. But nowadays, if you give it to a witch to eat, nothing will happen to her because it has been repackaged.
I have a friend who sometimes decided to carry out an experiment, so he got this plant that witch must not see and placed it at the door of a woman who claimed to be a witch, the next day, he woke up to see this woman by the door. She asked him what those things he placed on the doorpost meant, he told her that they were meant to prevent witches from gaining an entrance into his apartment, but the old woman remarked, smiling, that they were already inside. The man was annoyed at the woman and threatened to call police to arrest her.
The woman laughed and went away, while my friend thought that was the end of the matter, but by the following day, nobody was willing to sell anything to him wherever he went to buy things. As a result, he had to pack out from that environment to another location.
There is an old saying that, “the witch cried yesterday and a child dies today, who does not know that it was the witch that ate up the child” But the situation is different nowadays as witches no longer cry, they just eat up the child without prior cry or warning. To this end, I want you to pray like this:
Every masquerading witchcraft, I paralyse your power, in the name of Jesus.
HOW CAN WE DEFINE MODERN
WITCHCRAFT?
- It is wanting to be spiritual without submitting to God or regarding His words.
A prophet who claims to be a minister of God with ten wives is practising witchcraft. He even claims that his power increases as he marries more wives. This is witchcraft.
A pastor of a church with three wives – witchcraft! You see somebody who is fond of getting angry and violent whose prophecy do come to pass, it is witchcraft, he is not submissive to God nor regard the word of God. Herein lies a great problem which many of us cannot get a clue to; they take a decision on a particular person in a witchcraft meeting and then you consult a prophetess who is a member of that meeting, who now passes out the decision previously made on you at their meeting as prophecy. Because you see that prophecy coming to pass, you begin to say that God has said it. The prophetess said nothing but only to tell you their verdict which you should have rejected but failed to do so.
Close your eyes at this junction and pray these prayer points:
Every ordinance of wizard will not stand against me, in the name of Jesus.
Every decision of witchcraft against my prosperity will not stand, in the name of Jesus.
- Modern witchcraft is rebellion coupled with the desire to remain spiritual.
If you go to some of these popular prayer mountains, you will be surprised to find people there praying day and night saying things like “…Oh Lord, let my wife die… let my mother in- law eat sand, …As I am slapping this rock, let thunder begin to strike him…” But this same man praying like this is a fornicator, there is no doubt that he is practising witchcraft on that mountain. It is an art of modern witchcraft when somebody goes to Satan and believes his lies and as such, Satan becomes his father.
It is true that supernatural powers can either come from God or Satan, but as God gives powers to those holding the truth, so Satan gives powers to those who believe his lies. When you come before God, the truth is the passport, while to have access to satan’s power, lie is the passport. In James 3: 15,
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
Here the Bible agrees that there is a particular wisdom that is not from above, but it is wisdom from beneath, and it is satanic, earthly and fleshly.
Witchcraft starts with rebellion of the heart and it works by focusing on some techniques which they say can release power. The practitioners of these powers draw powers from below and not from above – they stay here on earth to draw power, it is not God that gives them. That is why in Exodus 7: 22, we read
And the magicians of Egypt do so with their enchantments and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened neither did he hearken unto them as the Lord hath said.
Also in Exodus 8:7,
And the magicians did so with their enchantments and got up frogs upon the land of Egypt.
So we can conclude that it is very wrong to claim that the dark world does not have power, they do have but there is a greater power. The Bible says, “…at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…” Now the big truth we want to address is this, the witches operating in Christians must die if we do not want them to cage us.
Beloveth, the big truth is this, the witch in us must and every idol in our hearts must be smashed otherwise we would be having victory today and failure tomorrow. What is the witch in us? It is rebellion against God.
- Modern witchcraft can also be referred to as the craft of the wise majoring on evil wisdom.
Witchcraft is a sin and a form of idolatry. It is also a work of the flesh. Bible scholars would agree that Mannasseh was a terrible person. If you read II Chronicles 33, you will discover the terrible witchcraft activities of King Mannasseh.
Witchcraft will prevent a person from listening to the voice of God.
If you find somebody who is resistant to the gospel it is witchcraft.
All the stubborn pride is witchcraft.
There is something worse than being spiritually blind, and it is being blind and stubborn at the same time. There is no good witch and there is no bad witch, they are all abomination to God, they are those who recite the Lord’s prayer backward. They produce things with devilish names.
Modern witchcraft is the use of spirits other than the Holy Spirit to dominate, manipulate and control others.
Modern witchcraft is also known as counterfeit spiritual authority.
It is the practice of cursing others.
It is wanting to possess spiritual powers different from that of God.
It is a desire to move in the realm of the spirit without the Holy Spirit.
It is possessing spiritual power outside God.
Whenever a person turns from the power of God, he turns unto witchcraft. That satanic weapon destroying a believer’s chances of coming into full power of God is witchcraft.
CANDIDATES OR WITCHCRAFT
RECRUITMENT
There are twenty kinds of people that witches like to recruit. If you fall into any of the groups, don’t be surprised about the way you are being harassed and pursued by all kinds of creatures in the dream. They are doing all these to you so that you can stage a come back to their camp.
There is a fellow in our ministry who was about to share his testimony as at the time of writing this book. He was an herbalist who brought all his satanic materials for burning. There he said he had assorted types of evil powers for making pregnant women miscarry and do all kinds of evil things to people. But what kind of people do they recruit?
- Those who always feel dejected and lonely. It is this kind of people who complain they don’t have friends and that nobody visits them. They find these kinds of people and possess them either consciously or unconsciously.
- Those who have been maltreated and have no way of retaliating. They accept them and assure them of helping them to retaliate.
- Those who feel lonely and those who avoid the company of others. They are fond of locking up themselves in their rooms. By so doing, they are candidates of witchcraft recruiting.
- Those who have been abused either sexually or verbally and they are aggrieved in their hearts such that they cannot forgive the person. Such are harvested into witchcraft.
- Those who are greedy for gain. For example, such people are looking for millions in a transaction for which they could have taken about four hundred thousand.
- Those who are looking for recognition. They have an inordinate desire they want to be known. They want to be known on the pages of newspapers and television. Witchcraft is looking for them.
- Those looking for popularity.
- Wicked and cruel people. For example, many husbands and wives are witches and wizards not because they attend witchcraft meetings but because of their being extremely wicked and cruel.
- Restless people, who cannot sit down in one place.
- Those without proper goals in life, who just gamble from one thing to the other.
- Those who think they are very ugly and they are always complaining saying “…we are ugly, therefore it would be difficult to find a husband.”
- Those who think they are poor.
- The rebellions ones. When the word of God is saying something, they turn it to another thing. When they say this is what the Bible is saying, they interpret it in another way.
- Those with violent temper, always getting angry. No doubt, they are already 90% witches.
- Violent people who physically fight others for trivial things.
- Those who are sexually loose. Those ones are already gone. For example, if you have committed immorality with three prostitutes, it is likely you are already possessed with three witchcraft demons as you are reading this. You may not know and yet be going about in your nice suit, riding a good car.
- Lazy ones. They exhibit laziness in reading the Bible, prayer, witnessing and memorising the word of God. Witches are looking for them.
- The vengeful people. That is, those who love to revenge.
- The pleasure seekers, that is, those going from one club to the other at night, whatever club it is, from which you are retiring home at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m., you are looking for trouble.
- Those who are sleep addict. To wake them up is a problem, they can sleep in any place and any how. If you are slapped once in your sleep and you refuse to wake up, know for sure that witches are looking for you.
What informed this discourse is that we learnt of the general trend of delay in promotion, putting believers below unbelievers in offices and places of work. We have heard that there are some believers who are being sacked without any reason.
We have heard of sudden break up of marriages which are supposed to be solid. Reports have come to us that students with good academics and moral records suddenly become dull and erratic. Things which are supposed to go through normally suddenly develop unexplainable obstacles.
The answer is that there is an organised witchcraft that has turned a new wave of battle against Christians, hence we need to pray and break their backbones.
Modern witchcraft has spread to many places. You find them in churches which proclaim, “Thus says the Lord” whereas the Lord did not say anything.
You find them at schools where smoking of Indian hemps, sniffing drugs and raping of girls are rife thus indicating that witchcraft has entered the schools.
Witches have infiltrated the area of love relationship too. Spells are used to control people. Love portions are also use to destroy other people’s marriages.
In the area of sports like Judo, Karate, etc there is witchcraft.
Witchcraft has also penetrated the entertainment world as well.
What shall we say of television? It is the greatest instrument of modern witchcraft.
You can find the practice of witchcraft in medicine nowadays.
There are many witches and wizards in government.
In business, we can easily know that something is wrong from the name of some products.
What do you think of a producer of a perfume who calls it ‘mermaid’ and you are buying it? You are buying problem.
What do you think of the maker of a soap who calls it ‘Mamba’? Mamba is one of the most dangerous snakes on this planet.
Somebody engraves serpents on an earring and you did not take notice of it, you buy it anyway not knowing that the implication is that you are being initiated.
All the bazaars in the name of fund raising is witchcraft.
Are you a trader? Something is twenty thousand naira but you inflated it to fifty thousand naira, this is witchcraft.
All the membership of lodge and other secret cults is witchcraft.
Witchcraft has also entered recreational places.
Look closely at the toys and dolls of nowadays, you will be surprised to find strange images and funny pictures on them. In the home life, they have entered there as well.
The origin of all the holy days including Easters and Christmas is demonic.
Witchcraft has also penetrated law enforcement agents, judiciaries, seminaries, etc.
Therefore, if you are not ready to break their backbones, they will just continue to perpetuate their evils.
It is unfortunate to say that a lot of people have been caged by witchcraft, and one wonders why there are so many women there. The reasons are not far-fetched.
- The devil hates women with perfect hatred. Why? Because they give birth to those who trouble him.
- The devil capitalise on their being weaker vessels.
- Women talk too much, at least they speak an average of thirty thousand words per day!
- Women are more timid and fearful.
- They tend to believe things easily and this earns them the quality of being more trustworthy than men.
- They are easy to impress.
- They are also more defenceless than men and are more prone to seek for a way of fighting back. This explains why you find a lot of women practising witchcraft
Therefore, I urge the sisters to pray this prayer point:
Every cage of witchcraft, I destroy you by fire, in the name of Jesus.
WITCHCRAFT DANGER SIGNALS IN
CHILDREN
• Occult drawings on books, notebooks
Once you begin to notice any child drawing funny pictures in their books, you should be wary of his involvement in witchcraft, especially when you begin to see varied kinds of signs and strange symbols drawn in their books, you should begin to suspect as parents.
When you see a small boy tormenting things like cockroaches with fire and he seemed to be enjoying it, you must quickly rise to the occasion.
- Reading books on crime, blood, murder, satanic bible or satanic ritual, horror magazines
When you discover that your children are reading books on crimes, murder and shedding of blood, you better take an interest and do something.
- Unusual interest in the Bible without change in behaviour
When you see a child who always reads the Bible and there is no change in him to show for it, something is wrong.
• Interest in occultic movies and video games
When a child is interested in satanic video games and movies, something is wrong.
• Growing long fingernails
All those people who grow long fingernails like vultures and vampires should beware. It is a sign.
• Cuts, marks, tatoos, previously unnoticed in the body
All the cutting of marks on the body is also an evidence. Sometimes in obscure places like buttocks, genitals and breasts.
